Food Safety Department Launches Campaign, Collects Samples and Seizes Adulterated Food Items Ahead of Diwali and Other Festivals in Badaun,Seized 1200 kg of Mustard Oil; 4 Samples Sent for Laboratory Testing..

Badaun: On October 14, in view of upcoming festivals such as Diwali, Govardhan Puja, and Bhai Dooj, and to ensure the availability of safe and quality food products for the general public, the Food Safety Department has launched a special campaign to effectively prevent the sale of adulterated food and beverages in the district of Badaun. Under this initiative, on Tuesday, samples were collected from various food establishments in both rural and urban areas of the district for testing. The public was also made aware of food safety measures.

Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety, C.L. Yadav, informed that during the inspection, food samples were taken from the establishments from which action was taken. From Ajay Pal's establishment in Ghas Mandi Ushadehat Data Ganj, a sample of mustard oil was collected, and approximately 1200 kg of mustard oil (estimated value of Rs. 2,00,000) was seized according to regulations. Additionally, a sample of ghee was taken from Jai Ambe Traders in Jalandhari Sarai, a sample of Son Pappadi from Banke Bihari Sweets Bhandar at Kachla Chowk, and a sample of Barfi from Sonu Sweets Bhandar at the same location. Notices for improving cleanliness were also issued.

He further stated that all four collected samples have been sent for testing to the Food Analyst Laboratory. Once the test reports are received, legal action will be initiated under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. During the inspection, all food business operators were instructed to keep food covered, maintain cleanliness in their shops, sell pure and quality food items, and not operate food businesses without proper licenses. The general public was also made aware of the potential adverse effects of adulteration.


The team included Assistant Commissioner (Food) C.L. Yadav, Chief Food Safety Officer R.P. Singh, and Food Safety Officers Bhagwat Singh, Khushiram, Rajendra Nath Mishra, Mata Shankar Bindu, Karan Singh, Pramod Kumar, Mrs. Seema Yadav, and Mrs. Priya Tripathi.
